In a partnership with LivingADK and the Inlet Common School Board, the Inlet Area Community Task Force has announced their plans to host a farm stand for the summer of 2022.  Located at the Inlet Common School, the farm stand showcases Banks Farm, a family run farm out of the Boonville area.  Featuring free range and organically raised meats as well as vegetables, cut flowers and baked goods, Banks Farm was chosen because of their product quality, and their proximity to the Inlet Area.

Hosting this farm stand is part of a larger regional effort by the partners to expand locally grown, healthy food access in the Adirondack Park.  Although the Route 28 corridor is so fortunate to have Di' Orio's Grocery as well as Kalil's (among other groceries) to feed local people, there are still obvious gaps in the fresh food system due to the logistics and cost of transporting food into the Adirondacks.  The Old Forge Farmers Market does help to strengthen this system, connecting more local foods to local people, however as it is only available Fridays, the impact is limited. For this reason, it was decided that the farm stand would operate on Tuesdays to allow mid-week shopping.  The Inlet Common School location can also help to better service Raquette Lake and Blue Mountain Lake along with the Town of Webb/Inlet.

The IACTF also hopes an additional benefit will be found in bringing traffic to the Inlet Community Garden, also at the Inlet Common School.  Run by the Inlet Area Community Task Force, the Inlet Community Garden was conceived to help teach children and families how to grow food, to learn about healthy eating, to actually produce local goods and to help promote all of the positive mental health benefits that gardening has been shown to have.  In it's 3rd year of operation, it was and is the hope that this regional addition to the food system will be a strengthening support beam in the quest for healthy, local and nutritious food systems in the Western Central Adirondacks.

The farm stand is open to the public from 3pm-6pm on:
