The Countdown Is On! The CAP-PY Duck Derby Returns Sunday, August 31, 2025
The 15th Annual CAP-PY Duck Derby is racing your way on Sunday, August 31st, 2025 at 12:30 PM, and you won’t want to miss it.
Thousands of bright yellow rubber ducks will take the plunge over the Old Forge Dam on State Route 28, all racing toward some seriously awesome prizes. Whether you're a local or just visiting for Labor Day Weekend, this fun-filled event is the perfect way to celebrate summer's end.

Each duck in the race represents a chance to win! You can adopt a duck for just $5 – or increase your odds with a flock of 5 for $20. Tickets are available:

Every Friday at the Old Forge Farmers Market (1–5 PM on North Street)
You can also buy tickets on race day from 10:00 AM to 12:15 PM, just before the ducks hit the water.

Why It Matters
The CAP-PY Duck Derby is LivingADK’s only fundraising event of the year, and it makes a big impact. Proceeds support essential work across our region — including grant writing, economic development, workforce housing, food security, broadband expansion, environmental initiatives, and access to health and social services.
Since its inception, LivingADK has helped return over $15 million in reinvestment to our communities from Forestport to Raquette Lake.
