LivingADK Welcomes Miriam Doud as Community Resource Navigator by Libby Zupnick

As CRN, Miriam works directly with residents across LivingADK’s service region—from Woodgate to Raquette Lake—to assess needs and connect them with resources that can help, supporting a range of issues from childhood development and health care access to food insecurity, social isolation, and more.

In addition, Miriam will identify gaps in services and opportunities for collaboration across organizations to create efficiencies and better meet community needs.

Miriam brings decades of experience to the role. She is currently winding down a long career with the Central New York Developmental Disabilities Service Office, where she frequently helps clients navigate complex systems to access the support they need.

Her approach is compassionate, discreet, and grounded in problem-solving. “People say I have a knack for finding the right fit for clients,” says Miriam, “even when the solution isn’t obvious and requires some creative thinking.”

That skill set is especially valuable in the North Country, where geography, weather, and logistics can create unique challenges.

A CRN Steering Committee comprised of representatives from LivingADK, The Old Forge Library, the Town of Webb Union Free School District, Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church, View Arts Center, and Community Wellness Partners collaborated to bring this initiative to fruition and will continue working together to support Miriam’s efforts.

The CRN position is funded through a three-year Social Safety Net Implementation grant from the Adirondack Community Foundation, which supports initiatives that strengthen regional services and support networks across the Adirondacks.

“The funding made it possible to bring this dedicated resource directly into our communities,” said LivingADK Executive Director Robin Hill. “Our goal is to help people find the services they need while also improving coordination and resource-sharing among organizations—something that’s essential in our region.”

A North Country native, Miriam grew up in Lyons Falls and now lives in Forestport. Her regional roots give her an understanding of the character of Adirondack communities and the practical realities residents face when seeking support.

Miriam is currently on a regional “meet and greet” tour, connecting with residents, service providers, Town Boards, and community organizations to build the relationships that will help drive her success as CRN.

Bringing this new resource to the West Central Adirondacks reflects LivingADK’s commitment to building more resilient communities, providing support when residents need it most, and reinforcing the network of partnerships that serve our region.

Residents who are facing challenges and want help exploring available options are encouraged to contact Miriam directly at mdoud@livingadk.org or (315) 369-3353.
